This role leads a team developing embedded and real-time software solutions for mission-critical applications while also contributing hands-on across software architecture, development, integration, and test. The position works closely with Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Hardware, and Integration & Test in a collaborative Agile environment. Our Beavercreek team is part of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems and offers a highly collaborative, small-team environment within a larger enterprise. This role works across integrated teams and disciplines to develop advanced technologies and products that support critical customer missions. We value technical curiosity, collaboration, and bold thinking, and we are looking for engineers who can lead technical execution, mentor others, and solve hard problems in a mission-focused environment. Why This Role Is Exciting Mission-Driven Work: Help deliver embedded software capabilities that support critical customer missions and operational needs Technical Leadership: Lead a software team while influencing architecture, design, development, integration, and test Hands-On Engineering: Stay engaged in solving complex embedded and real-time software challenges Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Hardware, and Integration & Test in an Agile environment Broad Impact: Shape software solutions that connect customer needs, system intent, and implementation across multidisciplinary programs Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related STEM discipline with 12 years of experience; Master’s degree with 10 years of experience; or PhD with 7 years of experience Experience serving as a technical lead on a defense project Experience across the formal software lifecycle , including requirements, design, implementation, integration, and test Experience in C/C++ or Rust Experience developing and debugging embedded real-time systems US Citizenship is required An active US Government Secret clearance is required Ability to work full-time onsite in Beavercreek, Ohio Preferred Qualifications Experience developing software in Rust Experience with Xilinx-based platforms and tools Experience using Agile software development processes and tools such as Jira Experience using DevSecOps tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, or Nexus Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development and modification Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00
- $241,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
