Role at a Glance Gecko Robotics is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team in New York for Summer 2027 . This is a full-time, onsite internship, Monday through Friday. Gecko’s Engineering teams build customer-facing applications that turn robot, sensor, and document data into decisions about the health of critical infrastructure. You will work across the stack on a defined project: building frontend workflows, backend services, and data pipelines that make complex asset data usable by the people who maintain it. You will ship real features into a product that customers already rely on, with clear direction from a mentor and the room to own your piece of it. Due to government program requirements, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. What you will do Own a scoped full-stack project from design through deployment under the guidance of experienced engineers. Build user-facing features in React and TypeScript that support real operational workflows. Develop backend APIs and services in Python that ingest, transform, and serve structured and unstructured data. Design data models and schemas, and write the logic that parses, associates, and validates data from multiple sources. Use version control, code review, testing, and structured debugging to produce maintainable code. Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and Forward Deployment Engineers to understand how customers use the product, with the option to travel to a customer site during the summer. Present your project, results, and recommended next steps at the end of the internship. Technologies We Use React, TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Git, Linux, and cloud infrastructure (GCP). Depending on the project, you may also work with LLM APIs and data-processing pipelines, 3D visualization, or containerized deployments. The specific tools will depend on the assigned project. About You You are a builder who likes seeing your work used. You are comfortable moving between frontend and backend, you break large problems into shippable pieces, and you communicate clearly about what you built, what you learned, and what you would do next. Required Skills Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028. Ability to work onsite in New York, Monday through Friday, for the full Summer 2027 internship. Foundational programming experience in Python and JavaScript or TypeScript, including object-oriented or functional programming concepts. Experience building a web application end to end (frontend and backend) through coursework, projects, research, hackathons, or a prior internship. Working familiarity with Git or similar version control systems. Understanding of relational databases and REST APIs. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical work, explain tradeoffs, and collaborate on ambiguous problems. Ability to independently close knowledge gaps, stay organized, and learn from feedback. Preferred Skills Experience with React and TypeScript in a real project. Experience designing data schemas or working with messy, real-world datasets. Exposure to cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP, and to containers such as Docker. Exposure to integrating LLM or other AI APIs into an application. Interest in 3D, visualization, or spatial data. Role at a Glance Gecko Robotics is seeking an AI/ML Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team in New York for Summer 2027 . This is a full-time, onsite internship, Monday through Friday. Gecko collects some of the richest inspection data in the world: ultrasonic and other non-destructive testing (NDT) measurements from wall-climbing robots, paired with the documents, drawings, and operational records that describe the assets they inspect. You will work on a defined project that turns that data into decisions, building models and the systems around them that run reliably on real customer data. This is an engineering internship, not an analytics one. We build the systems that analyze the data, not just the analysis. Due to government program requirements, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. What you will do Own a scoped machine learning project from problem framing through evaluation and integration, under the guidance of experienced engineers. Build data pipelines in Python that clean, label, and structure NDT sensor data, documents, or operational records for model training and inference. Train, evaluate, and iterate on models, and design evaluations that reflect how the output will be used in the field. Integrate a model or LLM-based workflow into a service or tool that other engineers and Forward Deployment Engineers can use. Investigate failure modes on messy, real-world data, document what you find, and recommend what to fix next. Use version control, code review, testing, and experiment tracking to produce work others can reproduce and build on. Present your project, results, and recommended next steps at the end of the internship. Technologies We Use Python, PyTorch or similar ML frameworks, NumPy and pandas, SQL, LLM APIs and agent frameworks, Git, Linux, and cloud infrastructure (GCP). Depending on the project, you may also work with signal-processing tools for ultrasonic data, document-processing and information-extraction pipelines, or orchestration tools such as Airflow. The specific tools will depend on the assigned project. About You You are an engineer who happens to work in machine learning. You care whether a model works on real data, not just on a benchmark, and you are comfortable owning the code around the model: the pipeline, the evaluation, and the integration. You approach new problems methodically, communicate clearly about results and uncertainty, and are excited to be the first person to look at a problem. Required Skills Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or a related technical discipline, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028. Role at a Glance Gecko Robotics is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to join RoboSPLAT within Field Infra in Pittsburgh for Summer 2027 . This is a full-time, onsite internship, Monday through Friday. RoboSPLAT builds software and tools that help teams develop, deploy, debug, and operate Gecko’s robotic and ultrasonic testing (UT) collection systems. You will work primarily in C/C++ and Python on a defined project that improves system integration, diagnostics, testing, or development workflows. What you will do Develop C/C++ and Python software for a defined embedded software project under the guidance of experienced engineers. Build or improve tooling, diagnostics, tests, or workflows that reduce friction in developing, debugging, and deploying software on robot hardware. Work across software and system boundaries by integrating services or hardware-facing interfaces, investigating system behavior, testing solutions, and documenting findings. Use version control, code review, and structured debugging practices to produce maintainable code. Collaborate with RoboSPLAT and partner teams, communicate status and tradeoffs clearly, and deliver a final demonstration and handoff. Technologies We Use (If Applicable) C/C++, Python, Git, Linux, networking, and ROS 2. Depending on the project, you may also work with the Yocto Project, NVIDIA Jetson Orin, cloud infrastructure, or Electron, React, and TypeScript. About You You are a hands-on engineering student who wants to understand how software behaves on real hardware. You work methodically, seek out missing knowledge, communicate clearly, and care about building tools and systems that others can use. Required Skills Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related engineering discipline, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028. Ability to work onsite in Pittsburgh, Monday through Friday, for the full Summer 2027 internship. Foundational programming experience in C/C++ and Python, including object-oriented programming. Working familiarity with Git or similar version control systems. Understanding of basic computer networking. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical work, explain findings and tradeoffs, and collaborate on ambiguous problems. Ability to independently close knowledge gaps, stay organized, and learn from feedback. Preferred Skills Experience with ROS 2. Familiarity with embedded Linux systems or platforms such as the Yocto Project or NVIDIA Jetson Orin. Exposure to cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP.
